Deep-sea mining is an important part of China's deep-sea strategy. Under the guidance of major deep-sea mining projects, the Taihu Lake Deep Sea Science and Technology Laboratory continued to promote the tackling of major scientific and technological tasks in deep-sea mining. This week, the pool test summary meeting of deep-sea polymetallic sulphide mining prototype was held in tin. The newly developed deep-sea mining underwater robot was recently unveiled for the first time. The "deep-sea polymetallic sulphide mining prototype" independently developed by the 702 Institute of China's shipbuilding industry opened the personalized evaluation test. The deep-sea mining underwater robot is the key equipment to complete the underwater collection and transportation of various deep-sea minerals. It is planned to complete the assembly of (new) equipment next year and the pool test next year
The participating experts visited the land and pool demonstration tests of the deep-sea polymetallic sulphide mining prototype, and watched the prototype development and test video. The expert group fully affirmed the achievements of the project development and believed that the mining prototype developed by the project reflected the comprehensive strength of China in the field of marine high-tech, and promoted the commercial mining process of deep-sea polymetallic sulphides.
